David Camilleri, of Gozo, a CABS (Committee Against Bird Slaughter) German based group local representative, has been found guilty of the criminal offence contemplating arbitrary exercise of pretended rights and of the contravention of “violation of private property,” by the Court of Magistrates as a Court of Criminal Judicature (Gozo).

Last April, Lino Farrugia, the Federation for Hunting & Conservation – Malta (FKNK) Secretary General, lodged a report with the police, after Camilleri, in the company of four other CABS’ members, entered private land without the owner’s permission.

Camilleri was arraigned in Court this October and was fined €75 for the criminal offence and a further €25 for the contravention after the Court of Magistrates found him guilty of the above-indicated offences.

Upon leaving the law courts, Farrugia and another witness who had also been summoned by the police in the same case, said that they noticed that Camilleri, who in the meantime had changed and was sporting a CABS T-shirt, followed them for a while.

Farrugia said he has has now lodged another report with the police regarding this “apparent harassment attitude by Camilleri.”
