Environmental friendly projects completed in Zebbug

The Santa Marija Philharmonic Society premises in Zebbug Gozo has been equipped with more environmental friendly facilities. This project involves the financing of €47,000 through a scheme by the Ministry for Gozo for Non Governmental Organisations for the implementation of projects related to the eco-Gozo Action Plan 2010-2012.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono accompanied by the administration of the Society, which included its President Mr. George Cefai, recently visited the premises where various works including the building of a water reservoir, installation of energy saving lighting system and installation of a lift had been carried out.
The Minister expressed her satisfaction and appreciation for such an initiative taken by this Society which is implementing projects related to the environmental and social aspects within the community. She stated how through these projects the Santa Marija Philarmonic Society will improve social inclusion as a result of better accessibility while offering a more sustainable environment to all members, volunteers and all those visiting this building.
“The installation of a lift for 8 persons will provide more accessibility to persons with special needs, elderly and pregnant women while the other projects deal with the reduction of carbon emissions,” the Minister concluded.
