A group of Civil Protection personnel and Emergency Response and Rescue Corps of Gozo recently attended a ten-day intensive training programme in Italy.
The volunteers underwent specialised training in use of watercrafts and other flotation devices used for water rescue.
The Emergency Response and Rescue Corps is the promoter and coordinator of this training which is a Leonardo Da Vinci Mobility VETPRO European Funded Project named “White Waters.”
In Italy the beneficiaries were hosted and trained by the Societa Nazionale di Salvamento – Sezione Roma EUR who in turn hired the assets of the Italian Red Cross.
Comte Rossano Alberto Rosso, Head of the Rome branch of the Societa Nazionale di Salvamento praised the standards of the Maltese participants.
