An unveiling ceremony of a monument has taken place on the tomb of the late Mgr. Nikol G. Cauchi, Bishop of Gozo, at the Gozo Cathedral.
Present for the occasion were the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, the Minister for Justice, Dialogue and the Family, Chris Said, Justyne Caruana, and the Victoria Mayor, Mr Samuel Azzopardi.
The monument, which was designed by Alfred Camilleri Cauchi, with the marble work carried out by Raymond Bonello, is located on the left wall, opposite the door of the Sacristy. It includes a marble urn, small pedestal and a bust of Bishop Cauchi.
The sculpted lunette on the top of the monument shows a scene of the Visitation. This was chosen because Bishop Cauchi was from Gharb Parish which is dedicated to the Visitation of Our Lady to St Elizabeth.
