The IVF Bill today cleared the committee stage of the Parliamentary process. Labour MP Owen Bonnici withdrew the amendment which would have allowed surrogacy in exceptional cases
The Opposition said that it did not want to risk a delay should Parliament be dissolved after the Budget was presented. The Bill was also given a third reading later.
Health Minister Joseph Cassar had earlier in the debate moved an amendment which makes an exception to allow the implantation of three eggs in exceptional cases only, when normally it would be two.
