Drink Aware Malta, which aims to reduce alcohol related harm by promoting moderate drinking, has launched a campaign which highlights not only the physical impact of binge drinking but also the social consequences, particularly in the digital age.

Ray Grech, Director General at www.drinkawaremalta.com, said, “binge drinking is certainly an issue in Malta, particularly among young people and can result in both short and long term damage to health.

“In an age of social media when photos, videos and information can spread in an instant online, there are also new risks for binge drinkers to easily end up looking like fools in front of their peers. If some people feel that the risk to their health is worth taking, then hopefully the risk to their reputation might make them think twice.”

The new campaign is currently running on TV, online and outdoor and is the first in a series of activities to be undertaken by www.drinkawaremalta.com to encourage moderation in alcohol consumption over this festive season.
