The Labour Party electoral campaign is to be launched with a mass meeting in Gozo on Sunday, January the 13th.
The announcement was made by the PL Executive Secretary Lydia Abela on One Breakfast this morning.
With Gozo as the choice for the fist meeting of the campaign, the Party is sending a strong message that the 13th district will be a target constituency for Labour.
Gozo, by tradition has been seen as a Nationalist stronghold where at present it holds 3 seats.
Dr Muscatt during a visit to Gozo in September, said at a Labour Party Congress that “Labour policy would focus on creating jobs in Gozo for the Gozitans. Developing the toursim sector is the key to generate wealth and create jobs in Gozo, with the island being seen as a distinct destination.”
He also said that Gozo was not viewed as a burden to be carrried by the country, the aim is to create a Gozo which would be an important engine for the development of the country, with less bureaucracy and more accountability which will lead to more jobs for the people.
