The Malta Tourism Authority in co-operation with the Ministry for Gozo, Air Malta and Vacations Malta recently hosted around 124 Branch Managers from Ruefa Reisen as part of a familiarisation trip.

During their stay Ruefa Reisen held their annual Sales Conference on the sister Island of Gozo. The group was led by members of Ruefa’s Marketing team and were accompanied by Ms Corinna Ziegler from MTA Austria and Mr Michael Planicka from Air Malta.

Ruefa Reisen as part of the Verkehrsburo Group is one of the biggest Austrian Tour Operators with over 120 branches across Austria.

The annual sales Conference was held at the Kempinski San Lawrenz Hotel and it was a first that such a major travel and tourism event was held in Gozo. During their stay the agenda covered a number of interesting activities such as workshops and visiting the sister Island’s main heritage and cultural sites and the spectacular Gozitan landscape.

Gastronomy also played an important part of the programme, where the Branch Managers had the opportunity to sample local dishes, delicacies and award winning wines. They also found time for a full day sightseeing tour in Malta where they visited Valletta, the silent city of Mdina and other interesting sights.

The feedback received from the tour operators has been extremely positive with Malta and Gozo surpassing the expectations of most. The event not only provided Gozo with the opportunity to host such a prestigious meeting but was also instrumental to showcase the Island to top travel professionals from Austria.
