On Friday afternoon members of the Gozo University Group held a meeting with the Gozo Channel Board of Directors. The GUG put forward many proposals which were discussed during this meeting.

The GUG said that some of the main proposals were the suggestion of a students’ fare that should apply to all Maltese students and a fast-route service connecting Mgarr and Sa Maison, that would cater for students and workers alike, who commute to study or work in the central areas in Malta; such as Msida, Valletta and Floriana, Rahal Gdid and Mosta.

The revision of the synchronisation of public transport routes and the introduction of an online booking system were also discussed.

“The meeting was positively conducted with ambitious replies and incentives from both sides.” The Gozo University Group concluded that it “hopes that further talks will be planned, but most importantly, that quick and affective action should be undertaken.”
