The Ministry of Finance has issued a statement this afternoon regarding the reduction in registration taxes for Euro Standard Five vehicles proposed in the Budget 2013.

The Ministry said that both political parties had issued statements to say that if elected, both Party Leaders pledged that the measure would be implemented.

Earlier today the PL Leader, Dr Joseph Muscat has said that the Budget did not need to be implemented to enable the regulations to be updated.

“Therefore the Government it taking the decision that, by regulation, the difference that should be paid will not be due.

“The regulation would remain provided it was not revoked by 1 June, 2013, the regulation would then enter into force permanenty, the Ministry concluded.
