New business centre to be set up in Gozo – Lawrence Gonzi

The Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi this afternoon inaugurated new offices for the ETC in Victoria, Gozo.
During his address Dr Gonzi said that the Government is to develop a business centre in Gozo, which will be aimed specifically at financial services, IT and research. He said that the centre was a necessary requirement and that the Government believes the private sector remains the backbone of the Gozo economy.
The new ETC offices in Victoria will offer a job bank service, where applicants will have the opportunity to search for jobs 24/7. The Prime Minister said that this service is being provided In a bid to bolster employment opportunities on the sister island.
Dr Gonzi continued by saying that over the past five years full-time jobs in Gozo had increased by 6% resulting in more people finding jobs on the island. As well as this the economy had grown by around 12%.
The Prime Minister said that more remains to be done over the next five years, including in the tourism sector which can offer more opportunities for young people in Gozo.
