Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi met people in Qormi on Saturday evening less than 24 hours after the launch of the Electoral Programme: He was there to take part in another session of the ‘Interview with the Prime Minister.’

During this session, Lawrence Gonzi explained how further help will be given to those in need. He said that in the case of severe disability, “the pension will be increased to a minimum wage level and that persons with disability will not have their pensions reduced because of a job income.”

“Income tax will not be paid by those whose only income is a minimum wage, whilst income tax bands will be readjusted for everyone.” Lawrence Gonzi also talked about the “elimination of tax in property transfer between parents and their children, either through a will or a donation.”

The Prime Minister also discussed the free childcare initiative, the tablet for every student and the readjustment of stipends during this event. He said that with a PN Government, “each child would at have a fund set up with a one-off payment of €1,000 deposited in their name.”
