The Feast of St Paul being celebrated at Marsalforn Church

Celebrations are being held in Marsalforn this week in honour of Saint Paul, the Patron Saint of this community.
The present church dedicated to Saint Paul, was consecrated by Bishop Michael Gonzi on the 12th of September 1939. The church is in possession of various pieces of art, including the titular painting of Saint Paul made by local artist Giuseppe Bonnici and the titular statue made in 1925.
The programme of religious and social activities for this week are as follows:
Between Wednesday 30th January and Friday 1st February: Days of Solemn Triduum.
5.30pm: Recitation of the Holy Rosary, Kurunella and impartation of Eucharistic Benediction.
6.00pm: Solemn Mass with homily led by Mgr Joseph Farrugia, Archpriest Emeritus of Saint George’s Parish (Victoria).
Saturday 2nd February: Eve of the feast of Saint Paul.
5.30pm: Solemn Translation of the Relic of Saint Paul along the main streets of Marsalforn.
6.00pm: Solemn Concelebrated Mass led by Mgr George Farrugia Cap. S.S. and animated by the Stella Maris Choir directed and accompanied on the organ by Mro. Carmel P. Grech. During this mass, the First Vespers of the Solemnity will be sung.
Sunday 3rd February: Titular feast of Saint Paul.
8.00am: Mass with homily led by Rev. Canon Michael Borg, Rector of Marsalforn Church.
10.00am: Mass with homily led by Rev. Canon Joseph Cini and animated by the Chorus Unda Maris directed by Mrs. Carmen Cini.
11.00am: Mass with homily by Mgr Salvatore Grima and animated by the Nativitas Choir accompanied by a small orchestra under the direction of Mr. Ivan Attard.
3.30pm: Solemn Vespers presided by Mgr Salvatore Debrincat.
3.30pm: Festive band marches by the Victory Band of Xaghra and the Santa Maria Band of Zebbug along the main streets of Marsalforn.
4.00pm: Solemn Procession with the statue of Saint Paul along the main streets of Marsalforn Bay led by Xaghra Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo and accompanied by the two bands. This activity is being organised in collaboration with the Administrative Committee of Marsalforn and the Xaghra Local Council.
5.50pm: Entrance of the procession back in church, singing of the Antiphon in honour of Saint Paul and impartation of Eucharistic Benediction.
6.00pm: Solemn Concelebrated Mass led by Xaghra Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo. The Liturgy will be animated by an orchestra under the direction of Mro. Colin Attard. The feast ends with a festive reception at the hall annexed to the church.
