Comino Watch Tower clean up by Gozo Red Cross
The Gozo Branch of the Malta Red Cross recently carried out a clean-up of the Comino Tower stonework.

Marita Micallef of the Gozo Branch said, “the cleaning of such sites of historical and archaeological value is another way by which the Gozo Branch can help the local community.

Most of the tasks were carried out by using international standards of rope access, herbicide was carefully applied to the vegetation growing on the tower. The whole tower was thoroughly checked so as to make sure that any seedings etc were also accounted for.

Overall more than fifty plants were treated, mostly capers at different stages of growth. The side facing Marfa was found to have the most vegetation growing on it.”
