Labour Leader Dr Joseph Muscat was this morning sworn in as Prime Minister by the President of Malta, Dr George Abela who administered the Oath of Office.

The ceremony took place in the Ambassadors’ Room, at the Palace in Valletta. Dr Muscat is the 12th Prime Minister since Malta’s independence. The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife Michelle and his twin daughters

Large crowds have gathered in Pjazza San Gorg for the new Prime Minister, with Malta expected to enjoy celebrations across the island for the remainder of the day.
