The Police on Thursday, arraigned under arrest before Magistrate Dr Paul Coppini (Gozo), 34 year-old Saed Saleban Shide born in Somalia residing in Marsalforn, Gozo.

He was charged of having on the night between the 2nd and 3rd April, in Marsalforn;

Violently raped a female person;

Committed violence indecent assault on the same person; and

Used force, threatened and also of having arrested, detained or confined the same person without a lawful order from the competent authorities.

The accused pleaded not guilty as charged. He was denied bail and was escorted to the CCF.

Inspector Frank Anthony Tabone and Inspector Bernard Charles Spiteri led the prosecution.
