The Police have reported that early this morning at about 3.45am, they were informed that a traffic accident had occurred in Rabat Road, Nadur.

A Toyota Celica car was found overturned by the Police, who said that from preliminary investigations the accident was caused when the driver, for an unknown reason, lost control of the vehicle, hit a wall and overturned. The car was being driven on the road from Victoria towards Nadur.

An ambulance was called to the site to take any injured persons to the Gozo hospital. The Police said that just as the ambulance was leaving, a Hyundai Accent car, again for an unknown reason, hit a Volkswagen Polo which was parked in the area where the previous accident had taken place. The Hyundai Accent then went on to hit the Toyota Celica from the earlier accident and consequently also overturned.

A 22-year old male from Kercem was driving the Toyota Celica and he had a 14-year old female passenger with him, whilst a 28-year old male from Nadur was driving the Hyundai Accent with a 23-year old female passenger who comes from Victoria.

The four persons were taken to Hospital. The Police said that none are suffering from serious injuries..

The road was closed for some time.

Police investigations are ongoing.
