Provisional seasonally adjusted data shows that industrial production decreased by 4.3 per cent in February, compared to the previous month of January.

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days decreased by 1.4 per cent.

Monthly comparison

The industrial production index decreased by 4.3 per cent to 105.9 points in February 2013. This was mainly due to decreases of 7.3, 3.2 and 7.4 per cent in the production of intermediate, capital and consumer goods respectively. On the other hand, the production of energy rose by 2.8 per cent.

Annual comparison

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production decreased by 1.4 per cent. Decreases of 2.3 and 8.9 per cent were registered in the production of energy and consumer goods. On the other hand, the production of intermediate and capital goods went up by 3.7 and 4.3 per cent respectively.
