Minister for Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo has said that a thorough review of the administrative procedures and processes by the Examinations Board will be carried out with the aim of increasing transparency and safeguarding integrity in public examinations.

He said that this is being done in light of a police investigation on alleged irregularities in civil service examinations. A total of 19 marks were decreased in many cases while at least one candidate received an additional 26 marks, leading to a substantial number of candidates passing and failing due to these changes.

The Minister concluded that the original results published will not be modified in any way from the examiners’ result. The examination paper will be available for all candidates to review. The results of the civil service examinations, which took place in January, are expected to be published in the coming days.
