The development of the Cirkewwa ferry terminal is now complete and comprises a passenger-handling building with gangway connections to the ships for foot passengers; vehicular marshalling areas; parking and land transport facilities; access and circulation roadways; additional berthing capacity; ancillary buildings and other general enhancements. This Transport Malta said, will result in an improved inter-island transport network in terms of efficiency, safety and comfort.The Gozo Channel Company has today taken over the management of the Cirkewwa Terminal and this morning the Transport Minister Joe Mizzi and the Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo visited the terminal.
During this visit it was announced that the Government will be issuing an expression of interest for a Gozo Marina and that it is also looking into other necessary projects of importance for Gozo, such as fast sea transport between Malta and Gozo as well as between Gozo and Sicily and an air link between Malta and Gozo, which would have the possibility of being state owned.
The cost of the new terminal was estimated at around €12,000,000, 85% of which was funded through the Cohesion Fund Cohesion Policy 2007 – 2013 Operational Programme I.

Walter Sultana Gozitan and where do Maltese Gozitans and tourists shelter themselves during winter and summer time in a tent as before ???
Unfortunately the terminal building is to far away from the the bus stops to see what bus’s are standing there, so its not really practical to take shelter in the terminal while you are waiting for a bus. I remember during the winter you got soaked while you were waiting there, not only from the rain but also from the sea spray. and can you imagine what it will be like in August with the sun beating down with no shelter.Its time to get Malta Transport to do there job and erect the bus shelters there. so passengers are not soaked or baked.
