‘Art Project Ggantija 2013,’ is a quality cultural and educational event that will feature a manifestation of primodial art through contemporary media at Ggantija Temples in June and is being suppored by GasanMamo Insurance.

“We are very proud to be part of this manifestation which promises to be a veritable feast for the senses and the cultural appetites of so many people interested in arts,” said Julian Mamo, Managing Director at GasanMamo. “This sponsorship is part of our continuous support to local artists in Malta looking to preserve and promote our extraordinary heritage.”

Artist Victor Agius and Composer Mariella Cassar, both from Gozo, joined forces after having worked separately on various artistic projects both in Malta and abroad. The first event which will be held in June will consist of a live performance of musical work performed by Ars Vitae Ensemble, together with sculptures and interventions installed inside the Ggantija temples.

Later during the year, an exhibition will be held in Valletta showcasing the documentation of the performance executed in the Temples and other installations linked with the project. Besides these events the artist and the composer will also organise educational initiatives through hands-on activities and workshops that will involve students coming from different schools in Malta and Gozo.

These activities aim to attract newcomers to the fields of contemporary art and music. This project is being curated by Dr. Vince Briffa M.A. (Leeds), Ph.D. (UCLan) a practicing contemporary multi-media artist and Head of Department of Digital Art at the University of Malta.

Victor Agius and Mariella Cassar thanked GasanMamo for their sponsorship which shows how this company believes in the Maltese art scene and strives to help creative projects which bring together our national heritage and contemporary arts.

The Ggantija 2013 Project will be hosted by Heritage Malta and is supported by the Malta Arts Fund, Banif Bank (Malta) plc, GasanMamo Insurance and The Janatha Stubbs Foundation.

The Performance inside the Ggantija temples will be held on Friday, the 21st of June 2013 at 8.00pm.
