Alternattiva Demokratika, in a statement this afternoon said that it is asking the Maltese Government to propose that the EU suspends negotiations on membership with Turkey.

Prof. Arnold Cassola, AD spokesperson on EU and International Affairs, said, “There is no place in the EU for repressive governments. All EU membership negotiations with Turkey should be immediately suspended until full freedom of assembly and rights to peaceful demonstration are established and guaranteed by the Turkish authorities.”
