The Feast of St Anthony in Ghajnsielem will be celebrated on the 9th of June. The official activities started on the 1st of June with the ‘Hrug tal-Vara’ followed by solemn Mass but the highlight of the 9-day long activities will take place over this coming weekend.
On Saturday, the feast eve, the St Joseph Band Club will accompany the new statue of St Anthony, from the Mgarr belvedere to the Ghajnsielem church parvis where it will be elevated onto a pedestal.
The statue was donated by two benefactors and was completed in May this year. The artistic work is by James Azzpopardi.
On Sunday, the blessed statue of St Anthony will be taken around the main streets of ‘Tal-Gudja’ area in Ghajnsielem.
