The Speaker of the House of Representatives Angelo Farrugia, welcomed a delegation headed by the Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo and Mons. Joe Vella Gauci, President of the National and Regional Celebrations Committee.

During the meeting, the Speaker was presented with the publication of a book by the National and Regional Celebrations Committee – Ministry for Gozo, which deals with the 7th June 1919 riots that are commemorated each year in a ceremony for the Maltese victims, (Sette Giugno). In Gozo the ceremony takes place in Xaghra

The Speaker, Angelo Farrugia, praised this initiative “because,” he said, “it is important that the children of our country recognise the hardships of our ancestors and that this suffering translated into wealth for the interest of our country.”
