Between this November and March 2014 it is expected that there will be an registered increase of about five percent in seat capacity. This potential will mean more tourism to Malta during the winter months, which is considered a more difficult time for the sector, the Governmnet said in a statement this evening.

This increase will not be limited to just the national airline Air Malta, but will be spread over several airlines including low cost flights operating to and from Malta.

“Through the Malta Tourism Authority, there will be an ongoing campaign of marketing and promotions to ensure that these seats are sold.”

The airlines and destinations that will have the extra allocation of seats will be announced in the coming weeks.
