Speaking on TVAM this morning, the Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat said that he had never had discussions with Parliamentary Secretary Franco Mercieca regarding a possible resignation. He also said that Dr Mercieca’s decision to halt his private practice was nothing to do with media pressure.

Dr Muscat spoke about plans for Gozo saying that the Governement was looking at a faster connection between the two islands, a catamaran service between Gozo and Valletta would be one option and would also ease traffic congestions.

He spoke about a possible air link, not only by helicopter, but by small fixed wing aircraft, that could use the existing Gozo runway as well as a natural turf landing strip.

The Prime Minister said that all options are being evaluated, including those mentioned by the Gozo Minister at Thurday evening’s Public Consultation Meeting, such as a tunnel ot bridge. However, feasibility and geological studies were still ongoing for these possible projects.
