Gozo Aquatic and Sports Center - Completion expected 2024Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri has said that “the completion of the finishing of Gozo Aquatic and Sports Centre in Victoria is planned to be closed in the second quarter of the coming year.”

He went on to say that “work on the project has reached its final phases and in the coming weeks the facade will begin to be closed.”

The Minister was replying to a Parliamentary Question by Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Alex Borg, for an update on what stage the project was at and a time frame for completion.

In October last year, during a visit to the ongoing works at the site, Minister Camilleri said that the Aquatic Centre was expected to be completed in 2023.

Then on a further visit during May this year, the Minister said that work was progressing “as planned,” but no date was given for completion.

During that same visit, architect of the project Godwin Sultana said that the work was “currently moving towards the third and last phase” and he described the progress made in this project as “excellent.”

Nothing new here. More excuses! 4-5 years to put up a building that size and complexity? Give us a break. I would be foolish to ask if the contract had effective penalty clauses and whether they are now being enacted. Come clean, Minister.
