An ATM has now been installed in Ghajnsielem following efforts made by the Ghajnsielem Local Council.
This new beneficiary service money withdrawal machine is situated right next to the Council Office entrance.
The Council explained that for all cards issued by Maltese financial institutions (such as BOV, HSBC, Banif, APS, Lombard etc.) the ATM does not apply a charge when withdrawing cash.
However, charges might added by the their bank for using a 3rd party network based upon the card type as well as their contract with the bank, it said.
The Council added that, “it is similar to for example a BOV client using an HSBC ATM or vice versa. We suggest that you always enquire with your bank about any such charges.”
There is a flat fee of €3.95 to some (but not all) non-Maltese cards (such as VISA/Mastercard) irrespective of withdrawal amount, and the Council said that if there is any charge, then it will be displayed clearly on the screen with a yes/no question on whether they accept the charge and wish to proceed.
The Ghajnsielem Local Council concluded by saying that “whilst hoping that this will be of a benefit to both locals and tourists who visit us, we urge you to call 27781327 for further assistance.”
