The Malta Police Dog Section and Mounted Section have successfully completed training in Veterinary Life Support Level 1 and Level 2 for K9 and Veterinary Life Support Horse Edition respectively. It was spread over three days, from 26 to 28 June.

The training was sponsored and organised by the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (E.R.R.C.) of Gozo in collaboration with the European Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics.

The training covered both theory and practical aspects of medical emergencies and life support techniques for injured working dogs and horses.

A total of twenty-eight participants attended for this training. Four officers from the Civil Protection Department, three from the Animal Welfare Department, eight Policemen from the Dog Section, seven from the Mounted Section and six from the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps.

In the process four participants have been qualified as assistant instructors in the coming weeks they will be given the appointment as instructors.

The Minister for Home Affairs and National Security, Manuel Mallia attended for the certificate presentation ceremony. He praised the initiative of the ERRC and assured that such training will be held in the future.
