The Maltese Contingent from the Malta University Sports Club left the Malta early on on Thursday morning, off to Kazan (Russia) where the Universiade 2013 are being held.
After a long day of traveling, the athletes settled down in the Universiade Village in Kazan. The weather in Russia seems to be collaborating with the organisers, as the athletes were greeted with a wonderful sunny weather.
Malta’s flag will be raised with those of the rest of the participating countries and the official opening ceremony will take place tonight at a 19.40pm Malta time and will be shown on Eurosport channel
The first athletes to compete for Malta will be Matthew Croker, who will run his specialty (400m) at 09.35hrs (07.35hrs Malta time), followed by Andy Grech in the 100m an hour later. Rebecca Sarè will compete in the long jump at 19.15hrs (Kazan time).
