Zminijietna – Voice of the Left said today that any proposals on transport infrastructure between Malta and Gozo should be analysed by independent experts and should have holistic impact assessments.
“The proposals for a bridge or a tunnel between Malta and Gozo require holistic impact assessments. Apart from feasibility studies, these should have scientific environment impact assessments and detailed social impact assessments. For this purpose, independent experts should be appointed by the state in consultation with civil society.”
Zminijietna went on to say, “companies interested in building such infrastructure should be excluded from carrying out such studies or from nominating persons for the same purpose”.
“Such studies should not be rushed exercises, nor should they be mere formalities,” Zminijietna concluded.
