The Gaulitanus Choir of Gozo will once again be presenting an open-air summer concert devoted to the musical theatre – a somewhat adapted version of the musical theatre concert which characteristically closes Gaulitana: A Festival of Music.
With the collaboration of the Gozo Culture & Information Office, the concert is being held on Friday, the 26th of July in the Greek theatre at the Villa Rundle Gardens,Victoria, starting at 9.00pm
The first part of the programme will feature Charles Strouse’s Annie prominently withg the choir’s children’s section and soloists Mikaela Bajada and Josianne Callus, with the second part featuring Irving Berlin’s classical Annie Get Your Gun, based very much on two principal singers: the choir’s own Terry Shaw and guest singer Julie James, with Jonathan Slater giving a helping hand.
The final selection of the programme comes from Richard Rodgers’ immortal Carousel. Marthese Borg, Patricia Buttigieg and Annabelle Zammit and again Terry Shaw have the principal parts. The choir joins will be participating in all the three selections “adding vibe and colour to the show.”
The show is artistically directed by Terry Shaw, who also devised the programme and did the musical arrangements with Gaulitanus’ conductor Colin Attard musically directing. Gaulitanus’ pianist Stephen Attard accompanies with Sue Scantlebury narrating the proceedings.
Entrance to the concert, which is also supported by Michael Grech Financial Investment Services, is free, everyone is warmly invited to attend.
