The Armed Forces of Malta Offshore Patrol Vessel P52 has been involved in the rescue of 104 migrants and was due to arrive in Malta at around 11.30am this morning..

The migrant vessel was 20 nautical miles from Malta and after finding itself in difficulty it was decided to embark the migrants onto the AFM vessel.

Three females, two of whom are pregnant required urgent medical attention and were airlifted by an Italian Air Force helicopter with an Italo- Maltese Crew.

The group is made up of 78 men 20 females and 6 minors.
