AFM airlifts 20-year old man with back injuries from Comino

An Armed Forces of Malta aircraft went to the rescue of a 20-year old man this afternoon after he sustained spinal injuries in an incident on Comino.
The young man was reported to have hit rocks while diving into the water. The incident, which was reported to the AFM by members of Gozo’s Emergency Response and Rescue Corps medical response team in Comino.
An AFM Alouette helicopter was dispatched and, because of the nature of injuries the man sustained, the aircraft had to land on Comino instead of winching the man onboard.
The patient was airlifted to AFM Air Wing Base were an awaiting ambulance took him to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical treatment.
