ERRC lifeguards rescue two swimmers in Ramla Bay, GozoAs well as yesterdays tragic double drowning in rough seas at Xwejni, there was also an incident where lifeguards of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps of Gozo had to rescue two swimmers at Ramla Bay on Saturday afternoon. The two swimmers were a fifty-year-old British man and a Maltese man in his thirties.

The exhausted swimmers were pulled ashore by the lifeguards, the British man almost drowned and required an urgent rescue from the the sea.

Yesterdays bad weather at Ramla Bay was signalled with a double red warning flag and although, this meant that the bay was closed to the public, some bathers still ventured in for a swim.

Before entering the sea, the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps advises the public to check the condition of the sea by carefully looking at the flags on the lifeguards towers.

The lifeguard service at Ramla Bay is possible due to financial support from the Malta Tourist Authority and Gaia Foundation. Support is also being provided by the Ministry for Gozo, Transport Malta, Police, Armed Forces of Malta, Police and the Civil Protection Department.
