Hunters call for BirdLife to be replaced on Ornis CommitteeSaint Hubert Hunters said in a statement today that BirdLife’s abandonment of the Ornis Committe meeting on the grounds that an ex-FNK member was present “was arrogant.”

St Hubert Hunters said that that the “Government should consider as an alternative, the participation of another local ornithological society on the Ornis Committee, which is known for a far more valid scientific contribution and professing rational views on bird protection.”

The Ornis Committee was, in the past, Chaired by a partner of BirdLife Malta in a partly EU funded campaign aimed at raising awareness on the importance of Malta to bird migration and the impacts of trapping. BLM never objected or boycotted a meeting then, the hunters said.

St Hubert Hunters concluded by calling on the Government “to find a solution to end this repetitive charade that makes a mockery of rational discussion.”
