Restaurant operators in il-Menqa complain of discriminationThe business owners in il-Menqa argue that while their restaurants have guidelines to adhere to regarding outdoor tables and chairs, other restaurants do not.

“These double standards are causing prejudice, for it is evident that there are restaurants with outside tables that do not have the relevant permits, which are being ignored by the authorities and not being warned in any way, the owners said.

The GRTU said that it agrees that everyone should follow and comply with the necessary permits and rules, but not at the expense of others.

The GRTU has asked the Minister to look into this problem and come up with a standard and guidelines for all areas of Gozo, with the hope that this situation can be regulated fairly.
