With reference to the Conference on the implementation and enforcement of environmental legislation, where Minister Leo Brincat was a main speaker, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said, “It takes quite a nerve to address a European conference on enforcement of environmental law and protection of bio-diversity when Minister Brincat forms part of a Government that lengthened the Spring hunting season, extended the September hunting hours by four every day and continues to adamantly defend hunting in spring.”
“Let’s cut out the hypocrisy, please,” Prof Cassola added.
Carmel Cacopardo, AD Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson on Sustainable Development and Home Affairs stated that “both Labour and the PN are unfortunately still hostages to the hunters lobby. AD is aware that Labour in Government will like the PN in Government before it do its utmost to ensure that hunters have a field day.”
“The day of reckoning is however fast approaching,” added Cacopardo, “AD salutes its sister organisations members of the Coalition to Abolish Spring Hunting and thanks the public which has responded so far by signing the petition to call a referendum to ensure the consigning of spring hunting to history.”
