The University of Malta said that it is proud to welcome all students with disability who satisfy the entry requirements and wish to continue their education at tertiary level. The University added that it “acknowledges the contribution they can make to the University as an inclusive learning community and has appointed the Senate and Council ACCESS – Disability Support Committee (ADSC) to make the arrangements necessary for them to follow a course of their choice.”

This year, the ADSC has published the booklet “The University of Malta Access Arrangements 2013” to provide the information that is needed to guide students and staff in terms of the available support.

The University said that one main purpose of this document is to reassure students that the University is intent on removing all barriers and obstacles within its power in order to enable them to choose and follow the course they would like to take up and for which they have the necessary requirements.

“The UOM aims to facilitate their full participation in all student activities throughout the time they spend on campus. The University will also strive to sensitise all staff and students as well as visitors to ensure an inclusive community,” it said.

The information available in the booklet is not exhaustive. The coordinator of the ACCESS Disability Support Unit (ADSU) is available to ensure that students can ask for a more individual application of the guidelines especially when their particular difficulties are not listed in the booklet.
