After a lengthy break in to write new material, and a live performance in Gozo last Saturday, Saving Alexis will be doing a one-off special performance at the Manoel Theatre. Entrance to the event is Free.

This live performance, starting at 9.30pm, is part of the Notte Bianca celebratory activities held Saturday, 5 October 2013 and organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts.

Saving Alexis entered the local music scene with their debut single “Lipstick Lies” in the summer of 2010. The success of the song earned the band their first nomination and appearance at the Bay Music awards of that same year. This was followed up by “Ocean Deep” and “High on July”, with the latter being accompanied by the band’s first music video.

The three singles all managed to climb their way to the number 1 spot on Bay Radio’s Malta’s Top 10 Chart, following various notable performances across the country, including The Farson’s Great Beer Festival at Ta’ Qali, Festahwid in Paceville and previous renditions of Notte Bianca in Valletta.

The fourth single, “Bullets & Poetry”, saw a more mature sound from the band, also granting them a spot in the Malta’s Top 10 Chart and a nomination at the Bay Music Awards for the third consecutive year (2012).

Saving Alexis’ current line-up is from Gozo, and includes the following:

Chris “Riot” Cassar – Vocals, Philip Sultana – Guitar, Chris “Red” Farrugia – Guitar, Clayton Bonello – Bass and Chris “Toffer” Mercieca – Drums.Local band Divine Sinners will also be performing at Notte Bianca tomorrow evening, they will be at St James Theatre starting at 9.15pm. Entrance is Free.

The Divine Sinners’ sound is what they, themselves describe as, “folk-punk blending the charming soothing sounds of traditional folk blues music along with the raw aggressive DIY simplicity of punk rock and grunge channelling it through pop to create their own unique sound.”

Earlier this year the Divine Sinners latest song ‘Bipolar Overdrive,’ has been voted ‘Top Online Release’ on Muzika Mod Iehor Ma’ Toni Sant # 325 with results from the 2012 MMI Listener’s Piicks Poll.

The Divine Sinners Band consists of songwriters Charles J. Attard and Frank Buhagiar along with percussionist Eugene Bajada and bass player Marvic Vella.

Notte Bianca is held in Valletta each year and is a spectacular, night-long celebration of culture and the arts. The streets and cultural venues come alive with a programme of entertainment designed to hold something of appeal for everyone.

Cultural venues, state palaces and museums open their doors all night, with many playing host to visual art exhibitions, dance and theatre performances. Streets and squares become venues for open-air conecerts, while many cafes and restaurants extend their hours and also run pavement stalls. All art and musical forms are represented from classical to pop and contemporary.

The Malta Council for Culture & the Arts organises Notte Bianca with the support of the Minitstry for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport. The event sees Valletta become an ‘open city’ of culture. The programme is designed to ensure every area of Valletta in involved, from City Gate to the far end of the peninsula.
