The Breast Care Support Group Europa Donna Malta is organising an all female art exhibition, taking place under the Patronage of Mrs Michelle Muscat and entitled ‘Awareness Through Art.’
Some of Malta’s top female artists will be participating in this exhibition, which will be held at the Cittadella Cultural Centre, Victoria, Gozo, between the 19th of October and the 10th of November.
The Breast Care Support Group was set up to bring about an awareness of breast cancer and the importance of breast care in Malta. It was started by three ladies back in 1987 as the Mastectomy Support Group but was renamed the Breast Care Support Group (BCSG) in 1989 to include anyone affected by breast cancer in any way.
In 2004 the group was affiliated with Europa Donna, the European Breast Cancer coalition, which advocates for optimal breast cancer treatment for all women in the European Union. At the moment there are 46 countries affiliated with Europa Donna.
One of the main objectives of the Breast Care Support Group is to befriend and support people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and to provide encouragement for those undergoing treatment through to recovery and life after treatment and possible reconstructive surgery.
The Group are dedicated to helping breast cancer survivors reclaim a positive body image and a healthy lifestyle. They also offer support for family and friends of patients or survivors.
