Industrial production up by 7.1% in August over previous month – NSO

Provisional seasonally adjusted data show that industrial production increased by 7.1 per cent in August over the previous month. When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days went up by 1.2 per cent, the National Statistics Office said today.
In August, industrial production went up by 7.1 per cent to 109.2 points. All main industrial groupings registered an increase over the previous month. Intermediate and consumer goods, comprising around 78 per cent of the total value added, went up by 11.6 and 9.3 per cent respectively.
When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production increased by 1.2 per cent. This was mainly due to increases of 15.7 and 3.5 per cent in the production of capital goods and consumer goods respectively. On the other hand, the production of intermediate goods and energy went down by 4.7 and 4.1 per cent respectively.
