As part of the events being organised for the ‘Free Travel to Gozo Weekend,’ Athletix Gozo AC will be organising a number of athletics events aimed for children aged 5 to 13yrs. The events are intended for both those children who already participate in athletics and those who want to try running, jumping and throwing for the first time.

No previous experience / training is necessary for participation and all participants will be awarded a medal for their efforts. Trophies will also be handed out to winners of each age group category and event.

A special feature of this event will consist of exhibition races by some of the top Maltese sprinters, including twice Sports Women of the Year and Diane Borg and Olympian Rachid Chouhal. These sprinters will show off their speed over the 60m distance, immediately prior to the finals of the kids events.

Male and female adults who wish to participate, are invited for a 3km run. The event will be held this Sunday, the 17th of November at the new athletics track at the Gozo Secondary School in Victoria, starting at 1.30pm. Entry is free of charge.

Tthe first ever ‘Free Travel to Gozo’ weekend will be taking place on the 15th, 16th and 17th of November, with free Gozo Channel trips for passengers and vehicles, (excluding commercial vehicles), between Friday, the 15th at 7.15pm and Monday, the 18th at 01.30am.
