The Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) in a press conference today announced that it is to commemorate its 94th Anniversary with a series of educational activities.

The first activity is a conference being held tomorrow Saturday 23rd November entitled “Effective and Modern School Management.” Apart from Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and opposition spokesperson for Education Dr. Joe Cassar, the conference will include a number of speakers and main decision-makers from the education sector.

The key-note speaker will be Ms. Christine Blower, who has two main roles in European trade-unionism. Ms. Blower, in fact, is the General Secretary at the National Union of Teachers (NUT) which is a British Union with a long history including that of giving assistance to the MUT when it was being founded. Ms. Blower is also the President of the European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) which is a gathering of European Trade Unions representing Educators.

MUT Publications Ltd. will also be launching two new publications. The first is the book for children in Maltese called “Leggendi tal-Milied” written by Carmel G. Cauchi. This book can already be found in main bookshops for the price of €3.

Apart from this, as promised, the MUT is currently at an advanced stage on the first issue of the new academic journal “The Educator.” This journal will be launched in the coming weeks as soon as the process for the registration of the journal is finalised.

Meanwhile, MUT activities will start this evening with a thanksgiving mass and a reception in which the MUT Council, delegates and distinguished persons in the education sector have been invited.
