The Social Security Department has said that preparations are underway to enable the increase to be paid for cost of living (€ 3.49 per week) in all benefits, pensions and social benefits..

The first increases for cost of living in pensions and social benefits, which are paid every four weeks, will made during the month of January 2014 are as follows :

• Payments paid on 4 January will include the include the increase.

• Payments paid on 11 January will include the increase and include a week of arrears.

• Payments paid on 18 January will include the increase and two weeks of arrears.

• Payments paid on 25 January will include the increased and three weeks of arrears.

Arrangements are also underway for the payment of the € 300 grant to the elderly over seventy ( 75 ) years old and still living in their homes.

These payments are expected to be paid during the month of February .
