Two volunteers of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps of Gozo noticed a boat in distress in Marsalforn on Monday evening, when they got closer they could see that the captain was struggling as he couldn’t approach the harbour due to the bad weather.

The ERRC said that the two volunteers managed to communicate with the person on board, asking him to throw a rope to them and they then dragged the boat a safe distance from the shore, from where the captain jumped to safety. He was given first aid assistance for shock.

The boat was later dragged further inside the port, with the help of other locals and was lifted from the sea with a crane during the night.
