Malta Transport services said in a statement this afternoon that a bus was evacuated today as a precautionary measure after an overheated exhaust pipe created some smoke in the back of the bus.

“The evacuation was in line with practised safety norms. Nobody was hurt and the bus is intact. Malta Public Transport Services (Operations) Ltd commends the fast and appropriate reaction of the driver,” the statement said.

The incident happened in the vicinity of Rabat, Malta, No major delays on the routes serving this area are expected.
