More than double the number of cars used the Floriana Park & Ride facility this morning compared to Monday last week, following the lowering of the rates to 40c including a free, high-frequency shuttle service to and from Valletta and Floriana, Malta Public Transport announced this afternoon.

Adding that until 1500hrs some 650 cars had used the facilities of the Park & Ride, compared to 296 cars on the previous Monday.

“This very positive response on day one confirms that the Floriana Park & Ride was not being exploited enough. Our aim is to make full use of the space available, and to offer a convenient and reliable way to access Valletta and Floriana without the hassle of looking for parking,” said Malta Public Transport.

The free Floriana Park & Ride shuttle service is now operated by the Minibus Co-op Services Limited, that is offering a service every 10 minutes, going down to every 5 minutes during peak times. Malta Public Transport said that until 1500hrs, the minibuses had already operated some 90 passenger trips between the Park & Ride and Valletta.

Floriana Park & Ride currently offers just over 750 parking places in Zones A, B and D, however Malta Public Transport is already working towards opening more parking zones in the coming weeks. The facilities are open between 0600hrs and 2100hrs all week including Sundays and public holidays.
