More than a hundred birds, both alive and stuffed, were seized during a series of searches mounted by the Administrative Law Enforcement Unit (ALE).
The Police said that 96 protected and stuffed birds were found today in the possession of two brothers during a search of their property.
Meanwhile, 45 finches were seized during an inspection inside a pet shop for not bearing the rings demanded by law.
During an inspection at the Floriana Flea Market, the Police said that a number of birds for sale were seen, among them, one which was not bearing the legal ring. Whilst inside a bag belonging to a man, 4 other finches, not bearing the legal ring were found.

When are these people going to be sent to prison. It seems illegal hunters and trappers are a protected species!
