With regards to precarious employment, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola said in a statement today, “it is good to note that the Government has announced that two contractors had been blacklisted for two years after having been found guilty of offering jobs with substandard conditions.”
“But what is the Government doing in relation to its own parastatal employees? Ex-Arriva employees, now Transport Malta employees, have no proper contract. They are paid by the hour and have no fixed basic salary. What is more precarious than this? We expect the Government to lead by example and ensure that ex Arriva workers no longer work in precarious conditions,” Prof. Cassola concluded.
